Nick's Birthday So Far

It is 6:30 in the morning. Nick got up at 6:00 and couldn't be persuaded to go back to sleep.

So far he has come out in the living room, looked at a bunch of balloons, eaten "birthday cereal" (which means the ones they don't get every day), and played with balloons. It's a major success so far: Nick said, "This is fun!"

He did mention the chocolate birthday cake he will be getting "tomorrow" after looking at Grandma Lucy's picture again.

With regular balloons (not even helium) attached to yarn, you can:
  1. Throw them up in the air, then look for them.
  2. Toss them back and forth with another person.
  3. Pull them around the room like a pet.
  4. Squeeze them.
  5. Try to pop them.
  6. Lie down and use them for a pillow.
  7. Have major-looking dramatic wipeouts as the balloon comes to the ground, then say, "Oh, sorry," and get back up to grab the balloon again.
Oh, and that was only one balloon. Now he has galloped over to the bunch of balloons and taken another one. Who knows what will happen next?
